MOT Type 1 Limestone – 900kg Bulk Bag is a well-graded crushed limestone sub-base containing larger aggregate together with fine particles. When spread, levelled and mechanically compacted, the fines fill the gaps between the stone to create a dense, stable layer beneath driveways, paths, patios, paving, concrete slabs and hard-standing areas. The bulk bag provides a practical quantity for landscaping and construction projects requiring more material than individual bags.
Limestone Type 1 is chosen for its reliable compaction and load-distributing properties, helping finished surfaces resist movement, rutting and settlement when correctly installed. It should be laid over properly prepared ground and compacted in suitable layers, with the finished depth determined by expected loading and ground conditions. Because the fine material produces a tightly compacted surface, Type 1 is not free-draining. Clean stone or Type 3 aggregate should be considered where water permeability is required.

Q. Does it need to be mechanically compacted?
A. Yes. The material should be spread evenly and compacted in appropriate layers using suitable equipment. Simply tipping and levelling it will not produce the intended stable base.

A. Genuine MOT Type 1 is normally specified in accordance with SHW Clause 803. Where formal compliance is required, confirm the current grading and certification for the supplied material before ordering.
