Rock Face Base Panels (Concrete Gravel Boards) are steel-reinforced concrete boards designed to sit beneath timber fence panels between compatible slotted concrete posts. They lift the timber clear of soil and standing moisture, helping protect the vulnerable lower edge against rot and premature deterioration. The textured face creates a decorative stone-effect base that works particularly well with traditional garden fencing and landscaped boundaries.
The 150mm panel for a discreet protective barrier or the 300mm panel where greater ground clearance, additional height or a more prominent concrete base is required. Unlike timber gravel boards, reinforced concrete will not rot or require preservative treatment, making it a durable, low-maintenance option for exposed boundaries. These panels are rigid and considerably heavier than timber alternatives, so accurate post spacing and suitable handling arrangements are essential. When selecting posts and fence panels, allow for the chosen gravel board height within the required overall fence height.
